The Different Types and Effects of CBD Oil
The CBD industry has evolved tremendously in the past decade. CBD which is processed from the hemp plant and contains very low amounts of THC is constantly becoming more popular.
What is CBD Oil
CBD oil is a popular generic coined for many varieties of oils that contain the cannabinoid, Cannabidiol ( CBD ). CBD is a compound that is abundant in the cannabis Sativa variety known as hemp. It is extracted through a variety of methods but usually extracted using CO2 on a large scale. There are over 500 compounds that may be extracted from cannabis and the extractions types are usually divided into three main categories:
1. Full Spectrum CBD Oil
As the name suggests this oil contains a large variety of phytocannabinoids, including the psychoactive cannabinoid THC. Although the amounts are below 0.3% or 1% as per government regulation and the products will not make you high due to the insignificant amount. However, the small amount of THC contained does have an added benefit, and that is the entourage effect.
Entourage Effect – The enhanced effectiveness of all the cannabis compounds working in synergy rather than individually. One cannot leverage the therapeutic and medicinal benefits of cannabis using CBD alone.
2. Broad-Spectrum CBD Oil
Also contains many of the other original phytocannabinoids but has gone through a restructuring process of the cannabis terpenes and cannabinoids. The THC cannabinoid is also usually removed from broad-spectrum CBD oil and other cannabinoids are infused into the oil like CBG, CBN and/or THCV.
3. CBD Distillate
This is the crystalline and purest form of CBD. CBD distillate can be up to 99% pure and every other compound is removed using chemical processes. The distillate is usually the building block to any of the CBD products we see on the market today.
What is a CBD tincture
CBD tinctures are easy and convenient ways of consuming CBD. They are usually comprised of at least 60% alcohol and usually contain high doses of CBD oils.
What are the benefits of CBD oil
Thousands of peer-reviewed studies have been researched and completed with promising results and beneficial properties of CBD. Already two CBD medicines have been produced and released by the FDA in the United States. Epidiolex is one such medicine and used in the treatment of rare diseases such as Dravet Syndrome or prescribed to patients suffering from epilepsy.
The potential benefits of CBD are why it is such a popular health and wellness supplement. It can easily be added to any balanced diet for an improved healthy lifestyle or used to potentially treat many diseases and conditions. CBD has many medical benefits for patients suffering from pain and/or inflammation which is the most common symptom of most diseases. CBD is now so accepted you can find it at health food stores, supermarkets, or your trusted Headshop.

How do you use CBD oil
Depending on the type of CBD oil you have purchased, it may be used in several ways. You could inhale the oil by vaping or smoking it. CBD oil may be applied to your skin topically like a tincture. Sublingual delivery is also very effective for CBD oil and/or tinctures. You may even choose to digest it by eating CBD edibles or infusing CBD oil into your foods. Inhalation is by far the fastest way to feel the effects of CBD while eating CBD edibles can take up to an hour before you feel the effects. This is because the digestion process through your liver can slow the process down significantly in comparison to inhalation where CBD is immediately absorbed in the bloodstream through one’s lungs.
How does CBD oil work
The CBD cannabinoid works because it connects to tiny receptors located throughout our central nervous and immune system. This is known as your endocannabinoid system or ECS is responsible for important bodily functions such as movement, mood, memory, metabolism and even your appetite. Your ECS helps you keep your body in balance.
How do you use a CBD tincture
Tinctures are usually packaged using a dropper bottle and easy enough to dose your CBD tincture for yourself. Depending on the strength of your CBD tincture, you can absorb up to five drops per dropper and simply drop one under your tongue in your mouth. Let the tincture sit in position and slowly be absorbed through cannabinoid receptors in your mouth. Just like a CBD oil, a tincture may also be used topically to treat aches, pain, inflammation or irritation on your skin. Apply a small amount to the affected area and lightly massage the tincture into your skin to experience the benefits of CBD topically.
The effects of CBD
One of the major benefits of taking CBD is a slow feeling of relaxation and calm. This is the reason people often choose to take CBD at night and therefor enjoy a good nights rest. However, the exact feelings you get when taking CBD are dependant on several factors and this includes your age, weight, metabolism and even your environment.
The side-effects of CBD
Reported side effects of CBD have been noted as dry mouth, dizziness, low blood pressure, lightheadedness and drowsiness. These are the main symptoms of people who may have accidentally overdosed on CBD.
